I went yesterday to my local quilt shop thats going out of business. She had 35% off of everything in the shop so I bought some things. I talked to her alittle bit to get a feel of the reason why she's closing and it appears the economy was the deciding factor. She is in the quilt quild that I'm thinking about joining so we'll still be in touch.
In my dreams I would love to have a quilt shop. But I know the hours of having your own business is hard. And of course for the first 2 years all of your profit has to go back into the business. But we live in a fairly large town, and the only fabric shop in the immediate area is Hancocks.
Maybe if she had venture in more than just quilts, who knows. I've been doing the numbers in my head and wondering but we'll see. I have so little time as it is.
Last night while DH was at prayer meeting I tried to clean up my stash. I probally have enough fabric to open a shop. The problem with me is I have 2 passions that I love to do quilt and sew kids clothes. I do not have any GD's yet, just one GS., and since I love to sew for little girls my GN's are doing very well these days.
Today's plans are:
Finish aporns for DDIL's (Christmas)
Work on new purse pattern. (Probally Christmas)
Then I may put together a lap quilt to work on in the trailer next week.
Hi Pam,
ReplyDeleteThis is off-topic, but I saw your request for a place to buy Australian Patchwork & Quilting magazine on the Quilter's Board. I get mine thru Stonehouse publications.

While it shows you the retail price, once you create an account and put the mags in the basket you'll get a discounted price. I just subscribed to the magazine for 15 issues at about $7.50/issue, which is less than the newstand price. And the back issues are about $7/issue. The price on these goes down as they get older.
